Johan Badenhorst (born October 22, 1959) is a South African writer, explorer, and presenter. He is widely recognised for producing and hosting the travel documentary Voetspore.
He has also produced other television programs, including Boude en blaaie and Van die Kaap tot die Kunene. He has also written books such as In the Footsteps of the Greats and From the Cape to Kilimanjaro.

Background
Johan Badenhorst was born on October 22, 1959, in the coastal city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Because his father taught there, he attended Nongoma Primary School and later completed high school at Empangeni High School.
He pursued higher education at the University of Pretoria, where he studied Law. Later, he earned an honours degree in Strategic Studies from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), now the University of Johannesburg.
Career
Johan secured a position with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) after graduating from school. He joined Scholtz Films in 1990, where he was responsible for producing television projects, such as Boude en blaan and Van die Kaap tot die Kunene.
As the director, producer, and main guide for Voetspore, Johan broadcasts his adventures on SABC 2.
Since launching the series in 2000, he has directed over 18 major journeys, navigating more than 350,000 kilometres. These expeditions have taken his team across Africa, allowing them to document their experiences in 40 countries.
Beyond the television industry, Johan has published In the footsteps of the greats and From the Cape to Kilimanjaro. He launched the Pretoria-based Voetspore lifestyle store and 4×4 assembly centre. He also produced the musical production Stuur groete aan Mannetjies Roux.
Personal Life
Johan is married to Alma, and they have three children, Nina, Heleen, and Streicher. Nina and Streicher both work with him on the Voetspore brand. Johan and his wife live in Kleinmond, Western Cape.
